I'll update when I update, 'kay?

Tuesday, May 12, 2009

I am still going to be a bit sporadic with the updates. Mostly this has resulted from creative fugue. I have been trying to dig myself out of this particular storyline and move on to my planned reboot for far too long. Then there is that whole website thing. And it's not like I have any readers or anything.

In short, stick with me, o reader, if you exist, while I try to find the motivation to wrap this up and launch a reboot.

I am going to take another week off from the comic; I recently added DMing a D&D 4e game to my schedule, and that might cut into my drawing time almost as much as having a full-time job did. I just need a couple days to figure out how to balance all three, and come back next Monday!

And I haven't forgotten my vow to create a better website; I'm just still trying to find a way to con someone else into doing it.

I'm really proud of my work with light in the last three strips. It was a bit rough Monday, but I like what I can do. And, as you might not realize, I have been relishing my work with fire all month.

This weekend, I will make my debut appearance at a convention (!!!). I'll be going as just a generic attendee, and I don't think any webcomics are going to be there, but this is going to be my first chance to get a feel for the con scene. I'll be at the sci-fi con Xandau Las Vegas. They have a depressing list of E-list celebrities (a couple people who were on Heros, a guy who's claim to fame was that he was involved in a bizarre accident during the filming of Charlie's Angels, a woman who's apparently some kind of cosplay expert, etc). Apparently the hallmarks of the convention are Blizzard presenting their new line of WoW minis and Tim Russ's Star Trek independent film (note: Tim Russ will not be in attendance, although five of the "actors" involved will be) .But they do have an "artists ally", so maybe if I have a Professor Saltine book out in a year or two Xanadu Las Vegas might be a nice small local con.

Also this weekend, Jon will be at the Starcon in Denver. I don't know if he is going to be working security again this year (that's his regular gig). It's funny...he's done that for as long as I've known him (11 years), yet not once during that annual con have I managed to make my way down there.

So we will both be pressing the bricks at cons this weekend, hopefully spreading the word about Astrodynamics. I'm considering creating a flickr account for our con photos, complete with pilthy observations.

And we will both be attending San Diego Comicon this July.

Once again, I couldn't quite pull off a comic in time. Sorry. I'll try to have it done tomorrow evening.

Monday's strip is not quite done; I'll have it up in the evening. Sorry for the delay.

200 strips.

Slightly more than a year. Over 200 strips. And they just keep getting better.

The camera angle in frame number two. That worked out wonderfully, and I'm glad I was brave enough to try it. And oh ya, that little explosion there took me almost ninety minutes.

Stay tuned, Saline fans, because Big Changes (tm) are coming... for real this time.
